The United States government has issued an executive order to advance artificial intelligence (AI) innovation and strengthen cybersecurity. The directive emphasizes America's leadership in AI, driven by talent and reduced bureaucratic barriers, and encourages responsible adoption across government and private sectors. The order recognizes that advanced AI capabilities enhance national strength but also introduce new security challenges, calling for coordinated agency action. It commits to partnering with industry for rapid deployment of secure technology to defend the country. Adopting an "America First" approach, the policy aims to secure information systems and protect intellectual property from exploitation by adversaries.

Within 30 days, the Committee on National Security Systems must prioritize cyber defense for National Security Systems. The Secretary of War is similarly directed to prioritize the cyber defense of Department of War information systems within this period. Additionally, the Secretary of Homeland Security, via the Director of CISA and other officials, is tasked with issuing Binding Operational Directives and guidance to expedite the cyber defense of civilian federal government information systems. These measures support the commitment to protect and advance America's AI-enabled capabilities across sectors.
