Michigan is experiencing a resurgence in manufacturing driven by significant investments and job creation under policies advocated by the Trump Administration. Vice President JD Vance highlighted the crackdown on fraud and revitalization of American manufacturing during a visit to the state, citing investments by major companies and increased factory employment.
General Motors is investing $6 billion in U.S. manufacturing, including a major expansion at its Orion Township plant, with additional production shifts at Flint to meet rising demand for pickup trucks. Ford is investing $3 billion in its BlueOval Battery Park in Marshall, creating approximately 1,700 new jobs, and has added a third shift at its Dearborn Truck Plant as F-series pickups maintain strong sales. Stellantis is committing $388 million to a new "megahub" in Van Buren Township, $140 million to expand its Detroit plant, and $100 million to increase production in Warren. Pratt Industries plans to invest $5 billion to support American reindustrialization, with many jobs anticipated in Michigan. Corning is investing $1.5 billion in Saginaw County, adding more than 400 advanced manufacturing positions.
