FIA Presidency: Roles, Responsibilities, and List of Presidents

The President of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) serves as the external representative of the organization, acting as its voice and participating in ceremonial events. The role includes making executive decisions on behalf of the FIA, as delegated by FIA bodies and the General Assembly.

The current FIA President is H.E. Mohammed Ben Sulayem. His predecessor was Jean Todt, who served from 2009 to 2021. Before Todt, Max Mosley held the position from 1993 to 2009.

The presidency's history dates back to the organization's predecessor, the Association Internationale des Automobile Clubs Reconnus (AIACR). Notable earlier presidents include Baron Etienne de Zuylen de Nyevelt (1904–1931) and Jehan de Rohan-Chabot, AIACR President from 1936 to 1946 and FIA President from 1946 to 1958. Other past FIA Presidents include Jean-Marie Balestre (1985–1993), Paul Alfons Fürst von Metternich-Winneburg (1975–1985), and Prince Amaury de Merode (1971–1975).
