World Aquatics has opened applications for its Athlete Intern Programme, with the next cohort expected to begin in Lausanne, Switzerland, in March 2027. The programme supports current and recently retired athletes by providing practical experience within the organization's various departments. Eligible applicants must have competed at least once in major events such as the World Aquatics Championships, World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m), or the Olympic Games within the last four years.
Applicants need proficiency in English; a four-year university degree is an asset. The organization seeks candidates with strong communication and organizational skills, adaptability, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for aquatic sports. The internship covers accommodation, local transportation, and round-trip flights to Switzerland for the placement period.
Current intern Maana Patel, an Olympic swimmer from India, described her work in the Development department as rewarding and educational. She highlighted the benefits of networking in Lausanne and her involvement in projects such as managing a comprehensive National Member Federations' Survey, which involved coordination across departments and direct communication with federations.
