Each year on 25 June, the World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL)—a drowning prevention event coordinated by the World Waterpark Association—features synchronized 30-minute swimming lessons held in aquatic facilities across more than 50 countries to promote essential water safety skills. Myrtha Pools, a partner of World Aquatics and a manufacturer of pools used in six Olympic Games, supports this event as part of its philosophy that learning to swim should be integral to every aquatic facility's design.
World Aquatics President Husain Al Musallam emphasized drowning prevention as central to the organization's mission, citing water safety as a fundamental life skill. Through programs like Discover Water, World Aquatics aims to deliver water safety education to children worldwide, partnering with organizations such as Myrtha Pools that share this commitment.
This year's WLSL featured learners as young as one to three years old at venues including the Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center in Colorado and the Brooklyn Community Center in Minnesota, showing how early swimming lessons can foster lifelong aquatic engagement and safer communities. Myrtha Pools prioritizes safety, accessibility, and confidence in learn-to-swim facility design, ensuring clear water, excellent visibility for instructors and lifeguards, and welcoming spaces for beginners.
Myrtha Pools' learn-to-swim facilities are located in schools, universities, and community centers across Europe, North America, Australia, Japan, Latin America, and India. In Italy, every Aquamore center includes a dedicated teaching pool, reflecting the company's commitment to integrating swimming lessons into daily community life.
Roberto Colletto, CEO of Myrtha Pools, stated that a pool built for learning is among the most important community infrastructure investments and stressed that water safety is a life skill, not a luxury. Both Myrtha Pools and World Aquatics remain dedicated to making water safer for all through these initiatives.
