World Aquatics has named three-time Olympian and world champion Leonie Beck as a global ambassador for its Discover Water programme, which aims to promote water safety and confidence among children worldwide. Beck will advocate for the initiative through community visits, events, conferences, and social media engagement.

Discover Water was launched on World Drowning Prevention Day ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The programme provides educational resources and practical tools to help young people develop essential water safety skills and encourage lifelong enjoyment of aquatic activities.

Beck's involvement began during a training course in Malawi, where she participated alongside Country Leads from 15 African nations. She shared her experiences as an athlete and supported local implementation of the programme. This experience influenced her decision to become the programme's ambassador.

As an ambassador, Beck plans to take an active role in communities, participating in onsite activities and sharing her expertise with educators, coaches, and participants. She aims to inspire children, families, and communities to view water safety as a vital life skill.
