On July 3, 2026, Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. recalled frozen GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries, 10 oz, Lot Code 60401, with a best-by date of February 9, 2028, due to an E. coli outbreak.
The recalled blueberries were distributed to Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled product and should discard it or return it to the place of purchase. Wash items and surfaces that may have come into contact with the recalled blueberries using hot, soapy water or a dishwasher.
Symptoms of infection with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (often with blood), and vomiting. These symptoms typically begin three to four days after exposure; most individuals recover within five to seven days without treatment. Some may develop serious kidney complications requiring hospitalization.
Seek medical attention if experiencing severe illness, such as diarrhea with a fever above 102°F, diarrhea lasting more than three days, bloody diarrhea, repeated vomiting, or signs of dehydration like reduced urination, dry mouth, or dizziness on standing.
Businesses that received the recalled blueberries are instructed not to sell or serve the product and to thoroughly wash and sanitize any potentially contaminated surfaces or items.
