UNESCO invites young people aged 18 to 35 engaged in the water sector to participate in a global survey aimed at understanding youth engagement in the field. The collected data will inform UNESCO’s first global baseline study on meaningful youth involvement in the water sector.
The survey gathers quantitative information about opportunities, successes, and challenges faced by young people, including access to education, career paths, participation in decision-making, and the impact of youth-led initiatives in water sciences, policy, innovation, and advocacy.
UNESCO states that the findings will lead to the creation of the first global open dataset on youth engagement in water and support evidence-based policy recommendations. These efforts aim to advance data-driven action and advocacy to strengthen youth participation in the sector.
Results are planned for launch at the UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi in December 2026. Interested participants have until 31 August 2026 to complete the survey and share their experiences.
