A webinar scheduled for June 29, 2026, will demonstrate how the REopt web tool from the National Laboratory of the Rockies can evaluate combined heat and power (CHP) technologies and systems for performance and financial feasibility. The tool analyzes both standalone CHP systems and those paired with other onsite energy resources.

Attendees will learn the fundamentals of CHP technology and its role as an onsite energy resource. The session will guide users on navigating REopt, highlighting key site inputs for CHP analysis and the performance metrics used to assess CHP suitability for specific facilities.

This session aims to deliver practical insights for optimizing onsite energy strategies, focusing on reducing energy costs, boosting energy security, and improving resilience to outages. Bill Becker of the National Laboratory of the Rockies will lead the webinar.

The Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) organizes this training to support a skilled workforce in building, operating, and maintaining cost-effective federal facilities. FEMP offers a variety of accredited courses and awards continuing education units through the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). Training is available via the National Institute of Building Sciences' Whole Building Design Guide learning management system.
