Since hostilities escalated between Israel and Hezbollah militants on 2 March, the Lebanese Public Health Ministry has reported 247 children killed and 992 injured, averaging about 12 children harmed daily despite an announced ceasefire between the parties involved.

More than 770,000 children in Lebanon are facing heightened distress due to ongoing violence, loss, and displacement, with many unable to return home as fighting continues. Internal displacement remains high, with 131,200 people residing in 644 collective shelters after airstrikes and displacement orders affecting 37 localities in the South and Nabatieh governorates.

Widespread destruction has damaged homes, schools, and critical infrastructure, including water, sanitation, and hygiene systems, worsening humanitarian needs. Humanitarian agencies reached over 1.1 million people with water and sanitation services and provided 13.6 million meals during this period.

The 2026 Lebanon Flash Appeal for humanitarian aid is currently 32.7% funded, with $209.6 million received against a requested $639.9 million to address the ongoing crisis.

UNICEF highlighted the impact on children, sharing the story of a 14-year-old girl who lost her father and three brothers in the conflict and remains in a coma, asking, “Where is humanity? Where is a sense of justice?” The UNICEF representative expressed hope that the ceasefire would hold and that violence against children would end.
