The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management, in partnership with the Hanford Field Office, is taking steps to strengthen the Hanford Advisory Board. This initiative aims to improve engagement with residents living closest to the Hanford site and to align the board’s governance with models used at other DOE sites nationwide.
According to the Department of Energy, these changes are meant to empower the local community by creating a more effective advisory structure. This approach is intended to ensure that community concerns are adequately considered in decisions related to Hanford.
