The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced the PROSPECT program to train the next generation of American workers critical to securing domestic energy and mineral independence, according to a statement from August 7, 2026.

The DOE's Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) is addressing cybersecurity risks in the energy supply chain through the Energy Cyber Sense and CyTRICS™ programs, involving organizations like GE Vernova to strengthen supply chain security.

On December 1, 2025, DOE's Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity totaling up to $134 million to enhance domestic supply chains for rare earth elements.

DOE is also investing $20 million to overcome technological and supply chain barriers related to recycling fiber-reinforced composites and rare earth element magnets in wind turbines, promoting advancements in wind energy technologies.

Additionally, the Industrial Technical Assistance for Clean Energy (ITAC) program has conducted over 21,000 assessments for small and medium-sized manufacturers, representing more than 90% of U.S. manufacturing entities, supporting their adoption of clean energy measures.
