According to the UN emergency relief agency OCHA, Israeli attacks in Gaza killed four children aged between two and 16 in separate incidents, including one who died from previous wounds. Five other children, aged eight to 17, suffered life-changing injuries from live fire or shrapnel during the week.
The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) reported the destruction of over $770,000 worth of nutrition supplies in a warehouse damaged by a nearby strike. These supplies were intended for more than 45,000 children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers in the area.
In the same period, a UNICEF-supported water well and desalination facility in Deir al Balah was severely damaged, affecting access for over 4,000 people. Partners have been providing water through trucking from alternative sources.
OCHA also noted that an explosive munition detonated approximately 30 metres from a UN convoy returning with fuel at the Kerem Shalom crossing in Rafah. The explosion caused a minor mechanical issue in one vehicle, but no casualties were reported.
The UN and its partners continue efforts to address risks from unexploded ordnance in Gaza, including hazard assessments, safety education, and support referrals. Authorization to bring in necessary equipment for ordnance removal has not yet been granted.
The World Health Organization (WHO) supported the evacuation of 106 patients and 132 companions from Gaza during the past week, but noted that thousands more require medical evacuation.
