World Aquatics has confirmed a total prize pool of USD $2 million for the 2026 Swimming World Championships in Beijing. The prize money will be equally distributed between male and female athletes, covering both individual events and relays, with awards from first through eighth place. Winners of individual and relay events will receive USD $10,000, second place earns USD $8,000, and eighth place receives USD $2,000.
Additional bonuses will be awarded to swimmers who set new World Records during the Championships, with each broken record earning an extra USD $25,000 on top of placement prizes. The bonus for swimmers achieving a "Double Crown" — winning the same event at all three stops of the 2026 Swimming World Cup Silk Road Tour series and at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) — has been increased from USD $10,000 to USD $15,000 per Double Crown earned.
According to World Aquatics President Husain Al Musallam, the prize pool reflects continued investment in athletes and aims to ensure swimmers know their performance will be properly rewarded. Prize money will be paid directly to the relevant Member Federation after confirmation of doping control results.
Beyond this prize pool, World Aquatics has made a broader commitment to athlete support. In 2025, it awarded a total of USD $10.7 million across all aquatic sports, including a record USD $6.1 million at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. The organization has also introduced a Post-Career Compensation Fund with an initial USD $10 million investment, designed to provide lump-sum payments to athletes upon retirement based on sustained participation and prize earnings, with eligibility tied to competing in 80% of World Aquatics-organized events over four years.
