U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, vice-chair and chair of the National Energy Dominance Council, joined Yukio Kani, global CEO and chairman of JERA Co., Inc., and representatives from several U.S. LNG producers to announce the finalization of four 20-year agreements between JERA and U.S. companies to purchase up to 5.5 million tons per year of American LNG.

The agreements include sales and purchase agreements with NextDecade Corporation and Commonwealth LNG, and heads of agreement with Sempra Infrastructure and Cheniere Marketing LLC. These deals involve LNG exports from America's Gulf Coast. S&P Global analysis projects that the agreements will support over 50,000 U.S. jobs and contribute more than $200 billion to the U.S. GDP.

Secretary Wright called the announcement a significant milestone that highlights efforts to boost American LNG production, noting the creation of over 50,000 jobs and substantial investment in LNG export infrastructure. Secretary Burgum emphasized that this investment signals the resurgence of American LNG on the global stage, attributing the progress to the administration’s leadership and stating that America is now producing energy more cleanly and reliably than before.

Yukio Kani said the agreements represent a strong commercial partnership between the U.S. and Japan, reinforcing Japan’s energy security and affirming the U.S.’s leading position in the global LNG market.
