The Permian Energy Dialogues, taking place September 15-16, 2026, in Austin, Texas, will offer a platform to discuss challenges and opportunities within the Permian Basin—one of the world’s major oil and gas regions. The event will bring together key stakeholders to develop solutions, build coalitions, and identify future energy pathways for the Basin and beyond.
Greg Davis, an EDF Senior Consultant and Co-Lead for Coal, Oil, Natural Gas, and Geothermal, will join the panel "Capital Flows in the Permian – Consolidation, Infrastructure, and Investment." This panel will address drivers of consolidation among exploration and production companies, midstream operators, and mineral owners, as well as investor perspectives on asset quality and inventory depth.
The panel will also examine how international and institutional capital in U.S. upstream activities and related infrastructure impacts competition for positions in the Permian. Investment in verticals beyond traditional upstream sectors—including water, power, midstream, and data center infrastructure—will be discussed.
Other topics include how policy risks and regulatory differences between Texas and New Mexico impact capital deployment. The durability of investment cases in scenarios of lower oil prices and the approaches investors and operators use to stress-test long-term strategies against market pressures and asset maturity will be examined. Investment outlooks in a sustained high-oil-price environment will also be discussed.
The forum aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders to navigate evolving market and policy dynamics in the Permian Basin energy sector.
