World Athletics has launched the Kids’ Athletics app to improve access and planning for its athletics programme for children and young people. The app offers activities, videos, and session plans available offline, making it practical in various settings. It is free to download on Android and Apple devices, supporting English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and Russian. The app is designed mainly for coaches and teachers to simplify delivery and remove access barriers.

Created in 2002 and recently updated, the Kids’ Athletics programme encourages children aged four to 14 to be more active while developing skills and confidence in athletics. Over 150 Member Federations have adopted the programme, reaching an estimated annual global audience of over one million children.

The app features a session plan builder tailored for participant groups, helping coaches and teachers create engaging sessions. It also provides participation and usage insights, allowing World Athletics to monitor the programme’s reach and effectiveness. These data-driven insights support ongoing improvements in line with community needs.

The app is designed for future scalability, with planned updates to support initiatives such as Kids’ Athletics Day and expand its audience, supporting a global community of coaches, teachers, volunteers, and parents.
