World Aquatics states that swimwear approval submissions must be made through an online application tool, including technical sketches or drawings of the product. Applicants without an account should contact the World Aquatics office by email for access.
For approval, one sample of each model—swimsuit, goggles, swim cap, or wetsuit—along with a signed application form must be sent to the World Aquatics office in Lausanne, Switzerland. For swimsuits, samples of each fabric or material used (at least one square meter) are also required. Applicants are responsible for all customs fees.
A contribution fee covers administrative and expert testing costs for each submission. Each swimsuit or wetsuit model application has a fee of 1000 EUR, while swim caps and goggles require 750 EUR per model. Fees for fabrics and material combinations in swimsuits range from 375 EUR to 475 EUR. A simplified goggle application fee is 375 EUR. Payment of all fees is required to validate each application.
Further details on construction, coverage, and wetsuit measurements can be found in specialized documents, mainly referenced in the Competition Regulations, Part One, Rule 6: Swimwear.
Applicants may contact the World Aquatics Lausanne office by telephone or email for additional help with submissions and the approval process.
