At the Debswana World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, the Norwegian women's 4x400m relay team—Josefine Tomine Eriksen Aks, Amalie Iuel, Astri Ertzgaard, and Henriette Jæger—made history by winning the final with a world-leading national record of 3:20.96.

They had previously broken the national record in the heats with 3:22.78 before improving it in the final. Spain, the defending champions, also broke their national record with 3:21.25 for second place, while Canada finished third at 3:22.66.

Spain led after the first leg, but Norway’s Amalie Iuel gained the lead on the second. Spain briefly regained ground in the third leg, but Henriette Jæger's 48.91-second anchor secured Norway's victory. Norway's performance also qualified them for the upcoming World Championships in Beijing.

Amalie Iuel highlighted the team's achievements, noting their progression from fifth to fourth place in previous years, and called the gold medal especially meaningful.

In an earlier heat, Ireland qualified for the World Championships by winning in 3:23.83, buoyed by a strong anchor leg from Sharlene Mawdsley.
