Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles and world U20 200m record-holder Gout Gout have been announced to compete in the 150m at the Ostrava Golden Spike, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting on 16 June. This will be Lyles' first appearance at the Czech event.
Lyles is aiming to surpass the current world best time for the 150m, which is 14.92 seconds, recently set by Jamaican Kishane Thompson, who finished second to Lyles in the 2024 Olympic 100m final. Gout, an 18-year-old Australian, returns to Ostrava after setting his personal best of 20.02 seconds there last year. He also holds the world U20 200m record of 19.67 seconds.
The event will also feature 2021 Olympic and 2023 world high jump champion Gianmarco Tamberi, making his fourth appearance at Ostrava. He is set to compete against Czech high jumper Jan Štefela. Other announced athletes include 100m hurdlers Tobi Amusan, Devynne Charlton, and Nadine Visser; pole vaulters Emmanouil Karalis and Katie Moon; 1000m hopefuls Josh Hoey and Mohammed Attaoui; and javelin throwers Anderson Peters and Adriana Vilagos.
Local Czech athletes Karolína Maňasová, Lurdes Gloria Manuel, Amálie Švábíková, Tomáš Staněk, and Nikola Ogrodníková are also listed in the line-up for the meeting.
