Ibiza is set to host a record number of athletes for an Open Water World Cup event, with 25 national federations represented. Swimmers will compete in three races over two days, including the return of the 3km Knockout Sprint for the 2026 season—a race that debuted in Ibiza last year.

Notable competitors include last year’s 10km winners, Angela Martinez Guillen of Spain and Andrea Filadelli of Italy. The Spanish team is entering 40 athletes, as the event also serves as the Spanish National Championships. In 2025, the Women’s podium featured Celine Rieder and Bettina Fabian, while Filadelli led an all-Italian podium in the Men’s 10km race.

This is the second of four stops in the 2026 Open Water World Cup series and marks Ibiza’s second consecutive year as a host. Medalists from the series opener in Somabay—Florian Wellbrock, David Betlehem, Domenico Acarenza, Moesha Johnson, Ginevra Taddeucci, and Lea Boy—are also set to compete.

The event schedule begins with the Women’s distance race at 9:00 a.m. local time on Friday, followed by the Men’s 10km race at midday. Medal ceremonies will conclude both days, and the Women’s 3km Knockout Sprint is set for Saturday morning.
