In 2012, the FIA General Assembly adopted a Code of Ethics and established an Ethics Committee to protect the integrity and reputation of motorsport and automobile mobility worldwide. The Committee reviews complaints from FIA Parties or Third Parties concerning alleged breaches of ethical principles set forth in the FIA Statutes, International Sporting Code, and Regulations, or may act on its own initiative for an initial assessment.
If this assessment leads to a full investigation, the Ethics Committee submits a report to the FIA President and the President of the Senate, who may determine further actions. When the FIA President is under investigation, the report goes solely to the President of the Senate, and vice versa if the President of the Senate is implicated. In all cases, both the complainant and the person involved receive a copy of the report for their information.
