NIH Office of the Principal Deputy Director: Roles and Responsibilities

The Office of the Principal Deputy Director, officially known as the Immediate Office of the Director (IMOD), manages the day-to-day operations of the NIH Office of the Director.

IMOD oversees research funding, management, administration, and information technology activities across NIH.

The office coordinates trans-NIH efforts among the NIH’s 27 Institutes and Centers.

IMOD also manages several Administration and Services Offices to support NIH functions.
