In 2024, only 17 of the world's top 50 most popular online content-sharing services issued transparency reports on terrorist and violent extremist content (TVEC). This represents an increase from previous years: 5 in 2020, 11 in 2021, and 15 in 2022.
Despite this growth, only a minority of major platforms release transparency reports on TVEC, with practices varying significantly across services.
Among the top 50 services most frequently used to disseminate TVEC, just six published transparency reports in 2024, showing that reporting is even less common among platforms where extremist content is most prevalent.
