The Department is organized into several offices with distinct reporting lines. Leadership Staff Offices report directly to the Office of the Secretary.

Infrastructure Program Offices report to the Office of the Under Secretary for Infrastructure, while Science and Innovation Program Offices report to the Office of the Under Secretary for Science and Innovation.

Nuclear Security Offices report to the National Nuclear Security Administration. Independent Offices function outside the traditional reporting structure due to specific mission needs.
