UNESCO is restoring the UNESCO Peace Garden in Paris, originally created by Isamu Noguchi, with help from specialized Japanese gardeners and the French Association of Japanese Gardens. The project aims to revitalize the garden's vegetation in line with Noguchi's original vision, with completion planned for September 2025.
Alongside the restoration, a richly illustrated book, Noguchi in Paris: The UNESCO Garden by Marc Treib, recounts the garden's creation and its pivotal role in Noguchi's career, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern sculpture.
UNESCO also publishes The UNESCO Courier, an international magazine founded in 1948. Now issued quarterly in six official languages—English, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, French, and Russian—the magazine addresses global issues such as the ethics of artificial intelligence, climate change, and collective memory. It offers a platform for cultural figures, intellectuals, and scientists worldwide.
Since its founding over 75 years ago, UNESCO has worked to build peace through international collaboration and to promote the intellectual and moral solidarity of humanity. Its efforts in education, science, and culture have shaped how people understand each other and the world.
