Since the Paris Agreement in 2015, climate action in international cooperation policies has increased notably. This growth is attributed to improved coordination among countries and better climate data availability within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) processes.
After 2020, international climate efforts accelerated due to several key developments. These include the Arrangement on Officially Supported Export Credits, in which participants agreed to end support for unabated coal power projects. At COP26 in 2021, a joint commitment was made to align international public support with the clean energy transition and phase out unabated fossil fuel use.
Additionally, the pilot phase of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) was launched to address emissions from international aviation, marking another significant step in global climate policy coordination.
