A UN refugee agency aid truck carrying emergency shelter kits was attacked by a drone while passing through Umm Drisaya in North Darfur, Sudan. Humanitarian partners report worsening conditions in displacement sites in Blue Nile state, citing overcrowding, lack of privacy, inadequate shelter and sanitation, and increased risks of gender-based violence. Funding gaps, insecurity, and access restrictions continue to constrain aid efforts, as noted by the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan during a recent visit.
In South Sudan, the UN peacekeeping mission (UNMISS) responded to deadly intercommunal violence in the greater Tonj area of Warrap state by deploying peacekeepers to help stabilize the region. Despite the deployment, tensions remain high, and a quick reaction force is on standby. UNMISS is also working with local leaders and authorities to restore peace.
Furthermore, UNMISS peacekeepers conducted a two-day patrol in Central Equatoria state to assess conditions following a recent deadly civilian attack and engaged with community representatives and security forces. Access to some affected regions had previously been denied.
